One-man band. Mobile journalist. Video journalist. Super hero. No matter what you call it, it’s about wearing many journalistic hats at the same time. I get a thrill balancing the roles of producer, reporter, writer, photographer, and editor all at once. While it is not always easy, I believe there is nothing more satisfying than posting a video, article, or multimedia project knowing that it is a direct product of your hard work.
Not only have I studied the changing world of journalism at the University of Michigan (BA) and at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism (MSJ), I have seen many of the industry changes and challenges first-hand in a variety of internship and reporting positions at the local, national and international level.
I have covered everything from a parade of kindergartners celebrating Veterans’ Day in Fort Belvoir, Virginia to anti-government protesters flooding the streets of Bangkok, and whether it’s a feel-good feature story, or chaotic breaking news, I still get the same feelings of satisfaction.
