On a windy day in Haiti, I introduce my family to the Haitian bad news bears. A baseball team Made up of homeless boys who live on the streets. On Fall break from school I took my family to visit Haiti for the first time. After delivering new Bats, Balls and gloves for the team, my children were invited to join them to play a baseball game.
The idea is the Brain child of David Darg (Operation Blessing)and Bryn Mooser (Artists for peace and Justice). the teams home field is the new free secondary school that Bryn Mooser and his organization have recently completed (with the help of David Darg)in Port Au Prince. Many of the teams players lost their families in the earthquake that devastated Haiti over a year ago. Bryn and David use Baseball to create the atmosphere of family for the boys who are otherwise on their own.
